How tall should bedroom table lamps be?

I have great table lamps in the livingroom which is in the process of being redone. Would the lamps be too tall for the bedroom? Is there a formula of height requirements for table lamps? For a swag over the kitchen table, what is the clearance?

The lamps are not required to be any height…just make sure they are proportioned correctly with your bed post…lamps that are seen as too tall are normally those that are taller than the bed posts!
